Cake Smash Planning Tips

Cake smash photos are second best photos after newborn that you can capture the innocence of your child. Session is usually scheduled few days to weeks before first birthday. Pictures from the session can be used in the first birthday party to display on easel or slideshow.

Few things, once taken care will get good pictures from the cake smash session:

Choose a theme which is not very busy on floor as kids tend to focus on decor items than cake like balloons, sports ball, lights, etc. This is one reason we use 3-D printed backdrops to give the illusion of real items but in safer manner.
Let us know your child's favorite rhymes during booking. We will try best to play them. You may bring their favorite toys. We discourage getting attention via phone as their eyes look down or they want to hold the phone and so many tantrums.
We do not provide cake due to allergy and dietary considerations. Choose a cake which is not heavily decorated as kids tend to not like frosting/icing on the cake. A more popular version for cake smash is naked cake that comes with minimal frosting.
Every parent want their child to wear a fancy and sometimes heavy outfit for a photoshoot. For cake smash, you should plan for a comfortable outfit as they kid need to focus on cake and not fuss about the outfit. We carry few outfits that goes well with the cake smash.
You may choose to split the session in pre-cake session with a fancy outfit and then cake session with cake themed outfit. We offer family photos at additional cost and must be confirmed during booking. Baby's backdrop are mostly small in size that cannot fit family. Hence, we need to set it up before the session.
Make sure the child gets a good nap just before the session. Since most of parents drive to studio for the session which gives little one a chance to nap before the session. So at home they should be playing, then sleeping in car and then again playing in studio. You may also get the ready in the studio.
Even though cake smash photos looks fun, most of children do not like to eat the cake. Reality is that they often cry and run away from cake. We make our best efforts to have them eat it. Try to feed child less food before the session so they are tempted to eat the cake.
We offer splash in water after the cake smash to help clean up the child. Most children like the splash in warm water in a small tub. And we capture few moments as well.

Payment is 50% upon booking and 50% on the appointment.

You will have an opportunity to select the photos for editing. It takes a 3 to 5 days to edit photos. Photos are sent digitally.

We offer prints as well in the form of book and wall prints. Check out sample and inquire on pricing during the appointment.
